North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology
North Eastern regional Institute of Science and Technology, NERIST came into being as a project of the North Eastern Council. It was built for the development of technical man power in the North East. NERIST was the first institute within India to introduce an innovative curricula. Vocational education was introduced at the higher secondary level and only the cream of the students were allowed to pursue their degree courses. This led to a high percentage of successful candidates joining the technical fields and in the process enriching it. NERIST is funded and controlled by the Ministry of Human Resource Development.
The president of the NERIST society is Governor of Arunachal Pradesh. He is followed in rank by the chairman(board of management), followed by the Director.. The present Director is Dr. Kalyan Kumar
Courses offered at North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology: Various science and engineering courses are offered by a number of departments. The training for the engineering and science courses are given in three modules, viz. Base, Diploma, Degree. Students are admitted on the basis of entrance examinations, NEE I, NEE II & NEE III. * Operating Systems
* Discrete Mathematics

* Microprocessors

* Design and Analysis of Algorithms

# Electrical Engineering
* provide training in the art of finding fault & servicing(base module)
* supervisory and guiding proficiency(diploma)
* analyze, design and perform other jobs of an electrical engineer.
# Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering
# Mechanical Engineering
* provides training on servicing & maintenance (certificate module)
* Supervisory skill (diploma level)
* various analyzing skills (degree level)
# Applied Science (Forestry)
* 2 year base module
* 4 year degree module.
# Chemistry
# Humanities and Social Science (Undergraduate, post graduate, Ph.D programs)
* English
* Economics
* Sociology
* Psychology
* Management
# Mathematics
* Undergraduate & post Graduate courses in Pure and Applied mathematics
# Physics
* Undergraduate courses at Base, Diploma & Degree module.
* PG programs like M.Sc Tech.
Facilities provided to Students: Facilities like Education tech unit, advanced computing center facility, hostel facility, e.t.c are provided to the students. Students, themselves are engaged in activities like sports, creative activities, so on and so forth. Placement facilities are also provided to students.
